Wiston Estate Vintage Rosé is fruity, vibrant and crisp, with a delightful fizz and notes of strawberry. Aged in oak barrels and comprised of 57% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier, this crisp rose is perfect on the palate. Wiston Estate started their, now-renowned, vineyard in 2006 and have gone from strength to strength since then, with their brilliant and extremely drinkable wines. This vintage rosé in particular has a beautiful aroma and makes an immediate impression upon drinking, with its own, very distinct, personality and richness. Wiston Estate Rosé 2014 is simply excellent and brimming with personality. Match with smoked salmon, game and even a delightful Eton Mess!
Dermot Sugrue made Wiston’s first vintage Rosé back in 2011 after a special request from Pip Goring. After such success and acclaim, Wiston released this current 2014 vintage after one of our warmest growing seasons on record when the main crop in the blend, Pinot Noir, was at its best. Two thirds of the juice for this wine was fermented in 10-year-old burgundy barrels, with the final third undergoing malolactic fermentation before the wine is then blended. After bottling, the wine is kept cool and capped (sur lattes) for 5 years before being disgorged in 2020.

“Tasted blind. Hint of blue. Pale strawberry colour. Strange, rather cinnamon-like aroma. A bit wild and with a hint of fraise des bois. Lots of interest but definitely non-classic. A bit green. Cuts off a bit suddenly. English?
