Nyetimber 1086 Rosé 2016

Exquisitely refined and remarkably complex, Nyetimber 1086 Rosé 2016 represents the pinnacle of English sparkling rosé, combining exceptional concentration with the precision and freshness that define the finest traditional-method wines. Delicate aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant mingle with rose petal, blood orange and subtle notes of toasted brioche. As the wine opens, layers of baked apple, pastry, roasted hazelnut and gentle spice emerge, reflecting its extended maturation on the lees. The palate is beautifully textured, with an exceptionally fine, persistent mousse carrying ripe red berry fruit, citrus and a delicate savoury richness. A vibrant line of acidity brings remarkable definition, while the long, elegant finish reveals hints of almond, chalk and lingering red fruit. There is a wonderful balance between generosity and restraint, making this a truly compelling example of English sparkling wine at its most sophisticated.

Named after the year the Nyetimber estate was first recorded in the Domesday Book, 1086 is the producer's prestige cuvée, created to demonstrate the extraordinary potential of English sparkling wine. Made only in exceptional vintages from carefully selected parcels of estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the Rosé benefits from meticulous winemaking and extended ageing before release. The 2016 vintage offers an appealing combination of aromatic depth, structural finesse and freshness, with the complexity to develop further in bottle. A serious gastronomic sparkling wine, it is particularly impressive alongside lobster, seared scallops, duck breast or refined seafood dishes, although its remarkable elegance makes it equally rewarding enjoyed on its own.
