Heggies Estate Chardonnay 2024

There is a lovely sense of restraint to Heggies Estate Chardonnay, combining the purity of cool-climate Australian fruit with carefully judged oak and a distinctly mineral edge. White peach, nectarine and crisp green apple lead the nose, followed by lemon blossom, grapefruit zest and subtle notes of toasted cashew and fresh brioche. The palate is finely textured, with ripe stone fruit and citrus supported by lively acidity and a gentle creaminess from barrel maturation. A delicate flinty character adds further complexity, while the finish is long, fresh and beautifully balanced, with citrus peel, almond and a lingering stony quality.

Heggies Vineyard occupies one of the highest vineyard sites in South Australia's Eden Valley, where altitude, cool temperatures and a long growing season provide ideal conditions for producing Chardonnay with natural freshness and finesse. The estate's distinctive rocky soils contribute to the wine's character, while sensitive use of French oak brings texture and complexity without overwhelming the fruit. The result is a distinctly elegant expression of Australian Chardonnay, offering richness without excess and the structure to develop further in bottle. Particularly well suited to roast poultry, grilled seafood and dishes featuring creamy sauces.
