Bourgogne Blanc Jean-Marc Boillot 2022

Generous enough to show the warmth of the 2022 vintage, yet with the freshness and definition that marks out serious Côte de Beaune Chardonnay. Ripe pear, yellow apple and white peach lead the nose, followed by lemon curd, hazelnut and a restrained touch of toast. The palate has a pleasing richness and breadth, with succulent orchard fruit and citrus wrapped around a gently creamy texture. Fresh acidity keeps the wine moving, while notes of almond, citrus peel and subtle mineral character emerge on the finish. Rounded and immediately appealing, but with considerably more poise and persistence than its Bourgogne classification might suggest.

Jean-Marc Boillot established his domaine in Pommard after gaining considerable experience at some of Burgundy’s most important estates, including Domaine Etienne Sauzet. Today the domaine has particularly strong holdings around Puligny-Montrachet and Volnay, and that pedigree is evident even at regional level. The 2022 Bourgogne Blanc offers an accessible introduction to the house style: Chardonnay with the richness and texture expected from the vintage, but handled with enough restraint to retain its Burgundian balance and elegance.
