Yarra Yering Dry Red No.2 2022

Fragrant, savoury and wonderfully distinctive, Dry Red No.2 takes its inspiration from the Rhône but has long since established an identity entirely its own. Dark cherry, blackberry and plum are lifted by violet and rose, with cracked pepper, dried herbs and a touch of liquorice adding complexity. The palate has impressive concentration without heaviness: dark fruit and spice are woven through fine tannins, while lively acidity gives the wine energy and definition. As it develops, notes of olive, earth and aromatic spice appear, leading into a long, savoury finish that balances perfume with real depth.

One of the defining wines of the Yarra Valley, Dry Red No.2 dates back to Yarra Yering's earliest vintages under founder Dr Bailey Carrodus. Predominantly Shiraz, complemented by Rhône varieties including Mataro and Viognier, it reflects the estate's characteristically elegant approach to Australian red wine.
