Meusault 1er Cru Les Charmes Domaine Matrot come from four premier cru plots in Meursault with an average vine age of 30 years. Naturally fermented on lees for 15 months in oak barrels aged between 1 and 3 years old. The final blend then spend 3 months in stainless steel tanks. Ever so charming with a white florals, honeysuckle and grapefruit zest aromas. Powerful and full-bodied with soft peach and apricot fruit accompanied with a chiselled, stony minerality. Beautifully focused on the finish, Meusault 1er Cru Les Charmes Domaine Matrot is everything you’d want from a premier Meursault, and one that will reward those who wait.
“While there is a trace of reduction it’s not enough to completely suppress the citrusy white orchard aromas. The caressing and suave medium weight flavors possess a fine mouthfeel while the youthfully austere and dry finale is shaped by firmer lemon-tinged acidity. I like the balance as well as the fine complexity and this should amply reward a decade plus of keeping. In a word, lovely.” – 91-94 Pts, Allen Meadows, Burghound.com
