An extraordinary Grand Cru Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most hallowed vineyards. The 2017 shows an alluring bouquet of black cherry, wild strawberry and rose petal, layered with earthy undertones of truffle, spice and subtle oak. On the palate it is both powerful and refined, with silky tannins, exquisite balance and a lingering, mineral-driven finish. A wine of depth, elegance and great ageing potential – a true expression of Gevrey-Chambertin’s nobility.

Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in Beaune in 1880, is a family-run estate now led by the fourth generation. Known for their dedication to finesse, purity and terroir expression, the Drouhins farm their vineyards organically and biodynamically. Their Clos de Bèze bottling is among the crown jewels of their portfolio, embodying both the house’s philosophy and the grandeur of Burgundy’s greatest terroirs.

The 2017 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru includes 40% whole cluster fruit and contains both estate and purchased fruit. It has a lovely bouquet of dark berry fruit laced with bergamot and undergrowth aromas, beautifully defined, with real Pinoté shining through. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit. There is wonderful balance here, and a subtle spiciness comes through on the finish. This is one of Drouhin’s best 2017 reds. Drinking window 2022 - 2045.
