Jordan Cobblers Hill Bordeaux Blend 2022

Cobblers Hill is Jordan’s flagship red, a polished and age-worthy Bordeaux blend that combines Stellenbosch generosity with impressive restraint. Blackcurrant, black cherry and ripe plum provide the first layer, followed by graphite, cedar, tobacco leaf and dried herbs, with touches of dark chocolate and warm spice adding depth. There is considerable concentration on the palate, but the fruit is shaped by firm, finely textured tannins and fresh acidity rather than sheer weight. Cassis and dark plum gradually give way to savoury notes of cigar box, cocoa and earth, carrying through to a long, structured finish.

Named after the distinctive hill overlooking the Jordan estate, Cobblers Hill brings together Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from selected Stellenbosch vineyards. Each component contributes something different: Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and cassis character, Merlot brings flesh and texture, while Cabernet Franc adds fragrance and savoury complexity. Matured in French oak and built with development in mind, this is a serious South African red that rewards decanting when young and has the balance to evolve gracefully in bottle.
