Kilkerran Heavily Peated Single Malt Whisky

Bold and expressive, this whisky opens with aromas of bonfire smoke, charred citrus peel, and earthy peat, layered with notes of sea spray, vanilla, and cracked black pepper. The palate is powerful yet controlled, showing flavours of smoky malt, lemon zest, salted caramel, and gentle spice carried on an oily, mouth-coating texture. Its pale gold colour belies the intensity within, while the finish is long, smoky, and maritime, lingering with ash, citrus, and sweet malt.

Produced at the Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, Kilkerran represents one of Scotland’s most traditional whisky-making operations, with floor maltings, direct-fired stills, and minimal automation. The Heavily Peated expression showcases a bolder side of the house style, marrying intense peat smoke with Campbeltown’s signature coastal character and malt-driven depth. Distinct from Islay peat in its drier, more mineral profile, it offers a compelling, characterful take on heavily peated Scotch with a strong sense of place.
