Fletcher Cantina Della Stazione Barbera d'Alba 2021

A new release from Dave Fletcher under the Cantina Della Stazione label. Deriving from Daves own vineyard in the zone called by the locals ‘Bricco Capre’ which is within the Alba DOC, the vines are some 60 years old and extremely low cropping. The fruit produced is always perfectly formed with crunchy skins and amazing fruit intensity. The end result is a brilliant, extremely elegant Barbera with lifted berry fruits aromatics layered with dense dark fruits on the palate finishing long and mouthwatering. Let it breathe in the glass, this becomes more structured and defined. This will sit comfortably alongside rich foods, meats, tomato based dishes and earthy mushroom.

Dave plays with whole bunch fruit during fermentation allowing for gentle extraction and a focus on the aromatics of the grape in preference to colour and tannin. Open fermented with wild yeast, and aged for 8 months in 10 year old barriques. The bottling is done without fining or filtration.
