Muscadet Sur Lie 'La Tour' Château Guipiere 2021

Sole UK exclusivity. A more serious, layered expression of Muscadet, La Tour brings extra depth and persistence without losing the region’s trademark coastal freshness. Aromas of citrus zest, orchard fruit and white blossom are joined by subtle notes of wet stone, lees and a faint smoky edge. The palate has noticeably more shape and breadth than a simple aperitif Muscadet, with ripe lemon and apple fruit wrapped around a chalky, saline core. Lees ageing adds texture through the mid-palate, but the wine remains focused and precise, finishing long, mineral and quietly powerful. This ages impeccably for 8-10 years.

Drawn from one of Château Guipière’s more highly regarded sites, La Tour sits in the upper tier of the estate’s Muscadets and shows it in the glass. This is still unmistakably Muscadet — taut, maritime and built for seafood — but with greater concentration and a more gastronomic feel than the domaine’s more straightforward cuvées. A strong choice not just for oysters and shellfish, but for grilled fish, richer sauces and more serious Loire drinkers - its also fantastic with cheese!
