A deep ruby-purple hue, the 2022 Blason d’Issan opens with vibrant aromas of blackcurrant, plum, and wild berries, lifted by notes of violet, cedar, and graphite. The palate is supple and approachable, with ripe dark fruit framed by fine tannins and a fresh, energetic acidity. Hints of spice, cocoa, and a stony mineral edge add complexity, leading to a long, polished finish. Juicy and elegant, it shows both the warmth of the vintage and the finesse of Margaux terroir.
Blason d’Issan is the second wine of Château d’Issan, a historic Third Growth estate in the Margaux appellation, with records of winemaking dating back to the 12th century. Crafted from younger vines and parcels not selected for the grand vin, Blason nonetheless reflects the château’s gravelly soils and meticulous vineyard practices. The 2022 vintage, marked by heat and concentration, produced wines of richness and perfume; here, the result is a Margaux of early approachability that still carries the estate’s signature elegance.
