Ceritas Charles Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

Ceritas is a small operation, led by founder John Raytek whom has access extraordinarily expressive parcels located in the West Sonoma Coast to Santa Cruz Mountains. Sustainably farmed with minimal intervention in the winemaking process. The wines produced reveal a sense of place and personality, with this bottle of Ceritas Heintz Chardonnay revealing just that. Straw yellow on colour with a bright nose of green apple, fresh lime, pear and wet stones. Lovely body with a somewhat oily complexity providing bright citrus and orchard fruits on a saline, mineral driven finish. Tasted blind, one would think this a top-class Premier Cru Chablis!

"Charles Heintz is perched just outside the town of Occidental, situating it directly in the face of coastal influences. The eroded, meagre sandstone soils drive the old vine roots deep into the bedrock. Plenty of concentration. Nervy acidity, stone-fruit characters, mineral and slightly saline on the palate. A fine Chardonnay which is a million miles from the richer old-school Sonoma style."
