Rosé d'Anjou 2024 Loire, France, 75cl
Rosé d'Anjou 2024
Loire, France, 75cl
Soft, juicy and charmingly off-dry, this is a very different proposition from the pale, bone-dry rosés of Provence. The nose is immediately inviting, with crushed strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant joined by hints of peach and rose petal. There is a gentle sweetness on the palate that gives the berry fruit a succulent, almost sherbet-like quality, but lively acidity provides a refreshing counterpoint. Light-bodied and easy-going, it finishes with fresh red fruit and a pleasing citrus tang that keeps everything bright rather than cloying.
Rosé d'Anjou is one of the Loire Valley's classic rosé styles, traditionally based around Grolleau, a local variety particularly well suited to producing fragrant, fruit-driven pink wines. Maison Castel keeps that regional character front and centre, making this an accessible and versatile rosé for those who prefer a little more fruit and softness in their glass. Well chilled, it makes a lovely aperitif and works particularly well with spicy Asian dishes, charcuterie or fresh summer fruit.
