The Chocolate Block marks the 21st vintage of this iconic wine and is blended from Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier. Grapes are whole-berry in a combination of concrete and stainless steel fermentation to retain that pure fruits. Maturation takes place in 225L French Barriques for a period of 12-14 months, dependant on harvest.
The wine shows inviting, vibrant fruits of Boysenberry and dark cherry dominates on the nose, with subtle scents of violet and spice. The intensity of aroma follows through on to the palate with additional fruits of ripe plum, black currant, red cranberry and blueberries against a backbone of fine tannins and fresh acidity. The finish is long and sumptously soft with a subtle touch of cured mint, cocoa and licorice. An icon through and through!
