Veuve Clicquot is one of the leading Champagne houses. Established under the label “Clicquot” in 1172 by Philippe Clicquot, the business had a clear ambition to cross all borders. Madame Clicquot took over the family-run business and, during her time in charge, developed three of the most important innovations associated with Champagne that still remain in practice today. In 1877, Veuve Clicquot marked its bottles with its first yellow label; which, to this day, is what makes the brand distinctive and instantly recognisable. The Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Brut is a medium-bodied, open-textured Champagne that, when consumed, provides the palate with a yeasty, baked flavour, combining notes of apples and pears. Once the wine is allowed to age in the bottle, more discreet aromas of vanilla and brioche will begin to appear. As a dry wine, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin is fairly rich, robust and offers smoky notes. Pale yellow in colour with reasonable clarity at the centre, this Champagne will sure be a favourite, whatever the occasion.
