This is a seriously good bottle of Albariño and a worthy alternative to any Premier or Grand Cru White Burgundy. Pazo Barrantes Gran Vino Albariño shows golden amber yellow in colour, with an expressive nose of exotic stone fruits; peach, pear and apricot, with citrus nuances of balsamic. Immediately decadent on the palate with crisp stone fruits mingling with a fresh mineral salinity and a long, creamy finish. Utterly divine!
Pazo Barrantes Gran Vino Albariño is crafted from 12 hectares of vines located in the Salnés valley in the Rias Baixas in Spain. The vines are trained in the “Parral” trellis system, ensuring protection against mildew and rot. After hand picking, the grapes are carefully de-stemmed and then gently pressed. The grape must is fermented in temperature controlled, stainless steel tanks at 10 degrees for approximately 60 days. The juice is left in contact with its lees for two months to create texture and density. Ageing takes place in stainless steel tanks for seven months, with 15% in wood barrels and 16 months in bottle before release.
