In 1963, Georges Delille bought this 26 hectare property which is situated in the commune of Ollioules. He set about restoring the domaine by rebuilding terraces, replanting vineyards and in 1975, building a new winery deep into the rock. In 1980 his son Raynald returned from his oenological studies and started working full time for the domaine.
The domaine is situated on in the limestone foothills of the Gros Cervaux mountain range which overlooks the Mediterranean sea and the vineyard soils are a mixture of this limestone with pebbles and a particular type of brown clay. The vineyards thus have superb elevation and exposure to the sun, whilst also enjoying a maritime influence.
All these factors are ideal for producing premium Mourvèdre grapes. Yields at Terre Brune are restricted to 35 hl/ha., viticulture is organic and grapes are all hand harvested.
