Danbury Ridge Estate Pinot Noir 2019 is an exquisite new release from relative newcomer Danbury Estate based in Essex. From the 2019 vintage, this shows dark red in colour with a pretty nose of wild strawberries, red cherries and woody cedar oak characteristics. Silky smooth tannins attack the palate with a bright line of acidity running through the middle. Darker fruited flavours of black cherry, plum and blackberry fruits are present with subtle notes of cracked pepper and spice. The finish is silky smooth. Danbury Ridge Estate Pinot Noir 2019 is a remarkable release. Tasted blind, many would mistake this for a New World Pinot Noir from cool climate New Zealand or Oregon, a sign of how far English still wine production has come. This has exceptional cellaring potential.
“A refined English red from an extraordinary English vineyard close to the Essex Coast. Only 3351 bottles produced – 12 months in oak – and a natural 13.5% reflecting the warm 2018 vintage. Shut your eyes and dream of Burgundy.” – 93 Pts, Tim Atkins
