An extraordinary Ribera del Duero blend of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for over a decade before release. The bouquet is deep and complex, with layers of blackberry, plum and cherry interwoven with cedar, tobacco, leather and exotic spice. The palate is powerful yet harmonious, showing concentrated dark fruit, fine-grained tannins and remarkable length. Fully mature but still vibrant, it reflects both grandeur and finesse.

Único is its flagship, produced only in outstanding vintages and released after extended ageing in barrel and bottle. The 2000 vintage exemplifies the estate’s ability to craft wines of immense depth, elegance and longevity.

"In the absence of a 2001 Unico, Vega Sicilia has re-released the 2000 Unico which I reviewed in Issue 189. The 2000 Unico is deep crimson-colored with an ethereal perfume aided by its extended upbringing. Aromas of Asian spices, lavender, incense, truffle, and confiture of black fruits are compelling. Sweet, forward, rich, and hedonistic, it nevertheless has the balance and structure to continue evolving for another 5-10 years.
