Château Petit Villages 2005 Bordeaux, France, 75cl
Château Petit Villages 2005
Bordeaux, France, 75cl
Deep garnet with a brick-tinted rim, the 2005 Petit-Village opens with aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, and blackberry, layered with truffle, cedar, and a touch of cocoa. The palate is plush and rounded, with concentrated dark fruit now integrating seamlessly with notes of tobacco, spice, and earth. The tannins, once firm, are velvety and supportive, while a fresh acidity keeps the wine balanced. Long and savoury on the finish, it shows Pomerol’s hallmark richness tempered by graceful maturity.
Château Petit-Village is a well-situated estate on Pomerol’s plateau, neighbouring some of the appellation’s most renowned properties. The Merlot-dominant blend, supported by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, is rooted in gravel and clay soils that give both depth and suppleness. The 2005 vintage — one of Bordeaux’s finest in recent decades — endowed Petit-Village with both power and ageing capacity. Today, the wine reflects the estate’s character at full stride: a Pomerol that marries generosity with elegance, and is now entering its peak drinking window.
