Pinot Grigio / Pinot Gris
Hailing from Italy and France, where it is known as Pinot Gris in the latter, Pinot Grigio has become a go to variety for many. There are around 110,000 acres planted at the moment but, thanks to the popularity of this grape, this number will likely increase significantly over the coming years.

Taste profile
Offering flavours of lemon and lime when grown in cooler regions to more peach and apricot flavours in warmer climes. Obviously Pinot Grigio from Italy is a great introduction to the variety and the wines are clean, citrus driven numbers but look out for Pinot Grigio from Australia, where they’re often more of a turbo version.
Don’t forget about Alsace though! Known as Pinot Gris, the wines are fruity with flavours of lemon, peach, honey and sometimes a touch of sweetness – perfect with some Thai food.
