Reichsrat von Buhl with Monika Schmid

Goring shop_tastings

We are absolutely delighted, following much negotiation, to welcome Monika Schmid, Export Manager for Weingut Reichsrat von Buhl – a certified organic producer of some of the finest wines in Germany.

The history of Reichsrat von Buhl is certainly involved, from its founding in 1849 to the present day, where it is one of the longest established vineyards in Germany, even being family owned for more than 150 years. It is, in fact, regarded as one of the flagships of the German wine industry, through its uncompromising quality. Whilst among wine connoisseurs the name von Buhl is synonymous with a quality promise.

Interesting fact alert! In 1869, following a rapid gain in notoriety, a von Buhl Riesling was served at the official opening ceremony of the Suez Canal.

Tickets are priced at £25 and will need to be paid for in advance of the evening. Please make a quick decision of whether to join us or not as previous events have sold out due to the restricted number of tickets available.

Please call our Goring shop on 01903 700224 for tickets.

Ginthusiasm with Damian Wingate Mk2

Goring shop_tastings

Following the duo of successful events from previous years, and as an advocate of the phrase ‘if it ain’t broke……’, I am pleased to announce that I will once again be repeating the exercise by hosting a couple of tasting events for Ginthusiasts during the month of August. As with previous years, hopefully this will enable more of those that would like to join us, to taste what continues to be the spirit of choice the world over (well, I can vouch for this part of Sussex at least).

The tastings themselves will contain the same quality Gins, so you have no need to feel you’ll miss out if you are unable to make either (unless you want to come to both, of course, as there are no restrictions). In fact, as I mentioned, the reason for hosting 2 events is that previously there was disappointment when a holiday coincided with the tasting, thus potentially spoiling the whole holiday (although why people arrange their holiday before receiving this email……?).

At Hennings, we are continually altering/increasing our listed number of Gins, so you can now choose from the 40 or more you will see on the shelves in the shops (not too shabby a number for a wee local company such as ourselves). As such, I will be tasting a number of the new additions alongside a few oldies but goodies (at time of going to press I haven’t made my mind up which of the wonderful selection to taste, however I’m sure I will have decided by August), but nothing that has been sampled at previous events (it will be a selection of the 40, not the whole range, just for clarification).

The dates of the tasting evenings will be Friday 2nd August & Friday 30th August, starting at 7pm and lasting a couple of hours, although please don’t hold me to this as once the Gin starts flowing…?; so hopefully you can find room in your diary to join us at either.

Please call our Goring shop on 01903 700224 for tickets.

An Evening with Nyetimber

Chichester tasting

Over the past 30 years Nyetimber has continued to elevate its status as one of the leading English sparkling wine producers, receiving international acclaim and industry awards that are enough to rival many in Champagne. Their pioneering single vineyard ‘Tillington’, the recent launch of the ambitious ‘1086’ through to Head Winemaker Cherie Spriggs being awarded the accolade of ‘Sparkling Winemaker of the Year’ at the International Wine Challenge 2018 are all testament to this.

On the night we will be pouring the following:
– Classic Cuvee Multi-Vintage from Magnum
– Rose NV
– Blanc de Blancs 2010
– Tillington 2013
– Demi Sec NV

Please call our team in Chichester to book tickets on 01243 784374.

Please let us know upon booking if you have any dietary requirements.

Did you know that we have a national celebration for our wine industry too? Make sure you’re well stocked for English Wine Week at the end of May into June and don’t forget we’ve got lots of different English wines available in our shops and on our website. We’ve also included the odd parcel or two of ‘once they’re gone they’re gone’ wines like the Sablet and Boroli Barolo. There are some other brilliant wines in here as well as details of three upcoming tutored tastings so if you’re keen to experience the stories behind wine, why not book a ticket or two? Cheers!
