Louis Boutinot, from one of our most respected suppliers Boutinot Wines, will be joining us to host an evening showing a range of wines from Waterkloof in South Africa. The Waterkloof name itself only appeared in 2005, following the Boutinot’s family taking over a farm in Stellenbosch in 2004, following an exhaustive worldwide search for th perfect vineyard site.
The vineyard, overlooking False Bay in the Cape, now covers more than half of the 100 hectare farm, with the rest dedicated to preserving the rare flora and fauna. In recognition of their endeavours, they received a prestigious award from the World Wildlife Fund in 2008. Following this award, the logical step was to convert Waterkloof to a fully biodynamic vineyard. This gives the grapes, and subsequently the wines, a real sense of place, as all the character comes from the soil type, aspects and altitudes (and of course allows the wildlife to thrive).
So, if you want to know what it takes to make a diverse range of high quality wines utilising biodynamic practices, then join Louis and the team for an unforgettable evening.
