Only three of Tyrrell’s own vineyards are ever used for Vat 47, the HVD (Hunter Valley Distillery), the New Vine Cuttings and the Short Flat vineyards. The oldest vines were planted in 1908. Tyrrell’s VAT 47 Chardonnay 2018 has a wonderful core of sweet Chardonnay fruit with subtle underlying oak giving the wine lift and structure with a clean, fresh acid finish. Tyrrell’s are master’s of their art, with the 2018 VAT 47 Chardonnay being a stunning release!
“Bright, light to mid-yellow colour with a rich, buttery, toasty bouquet, with smoky oak and roasted hazelnuts galore. The wine is full-bodied and rich, generous, almost opulent. A bigger style of Vat 47 than the recent trend, but it avoids fatness or tropical characters. A real mouthful of classic chardonnay.” – 96 Pts, The Real Review
