Pio Cesare Barbera d’Alba is made from 100% Barbera d’Alba sourced from Pio Cesare’s fantastic parcels in Barolo and Barbaresco. Grapes are hand picked and fermented in stainless steel tanks, with skin contact for 20-25 days. The wine is then aged in French oak barriques (25%) and 20-50 hectolitre casks (75%) for 12 months. The nose is classically Barbara with an abundance of blackberry, plum and ripe red berry fruits, with a touch of spiciness and tobacco. The wine is complex, supple and well-balanced, with juicy fruits, spices and a soft, rounded finish. Pio Cesare Barbera d’Alba is a perfect partner with food or simply enjoyed on it’s own.
