A rule to remember when buying Burgundy is to look to the very best producer possible, but buy their more affordable wines. Having access to premium sited vineyards means they have better raw materials; this allies beautifully with their ability to craft the capricious Pinot Noir. Domaine Ambroise's house style is normally full, intense and age-worthy; yet this Coteaux Bourguignons is on the lighter side, with fruit that is plummy and an interesting underlying spice (a bit of a farmyard note too, but in a good way!) framed with refreshing acidity that partnered my lamb moussaka perfectly.
