One of the most famous rosé Champagne’s, Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut NV is still made by the saignée method. Crafted Pinot Noir grapes from 10 different Crus in the Montagne de Reims, as well as the finest Crus from the Côte de Bouzy ‑ Ambonnay, Bouzy, Louvois and Tours‑sur‑Marne. These grapes are carefully picked and destemmed where they are typically left to macerate on their skins for 2-3 days, giving the wine it’s eye-catching colour and complexity. In the glass, Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut NV shows a pretty raspberry to salmon pink in hue, with a fine mousse. The nose is precise, fresh and exuberant, revealing a wide range of red fruits; raspberry, redcurrant, strawberry and black cherry. The palate is memorable, offering freshly picked red berry fruits with a lingering creaminess on the finish. Cuvée Rosé is a perfect apéritif, that works well when served with a variety of dishes including Asian cuisine, poultry and red-fruit desserts.
“…Pretty deep intensity of a colour that looks like pale tomato juice. Rose-petal aromas. Pretty aggressive mousse and light tannins on the end. This is quite an assertive pink champagne. It’s not going to keep quiet as you enjoy your Valentine’s dinner but may do a certain amount of interrupting. Red-berry fruit certainly in evidence before the tannins. Not my personal favourite style but it’s certainly true to the ordained style and a lot of care goes into making it. Drink 2021 – 2024…” – 16.5 Pts, Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com (Feb 2021)
