Domaine Duroché's Gevrey-Chambertin 2017 shoes a fine purity of colour and fruit. The nose offers lovely red and dark berry fruits – boysenberries, cherry, redcurrant, cranberry and raspberries – with a sniff of five spice. There's a lovely mineral notes so often associated with great Gevrey-Chambertin's. Medium-bodied with delicate tannins and a bright acidity - delightful now, though this will age for many years.Pierre Duroché is a rising star among the young vignerons of Burgundy. Taking over from his father, he has at his disposal four grand crus holdings in Gevrey-Chambertin, including Latricières-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin, amongst other village vineyards. Farmed under organic practices, yields are deliberately low with Pierre utilising minimal oak ageing and no fining and filtering.
