Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru Les Perrières Domaine Ferret 2018

Burgundy, France, 75cl

Les Perrières is 2.5 acres in size and is situated on the 'back side of the rock' with a sloping south-eastern exposure just above the Le Clos parcel. The soil, which is derived from alluvial deposits, consists of a mix of deep silt and clay containing few stones. The subsoil features streaks of limestone and limestone marls, while the top layers, which are moderate in depth, are littered with stones on the surface. The vines have an average age of 35 years old. The wine is fermented in oak barrels before further barrel maturation, a part of it on lees."An attractively fresh nose combines notes of citrus, green apple and quinine that is trimmed in very subtle wood influence. The racy, intense and solidly dense middle weight flavors exude a refreshing salinity on the balanced, clean and dry finish that offers excellent depth and persistence. This mildly warm effort is excellent, indeed it's the best in the range, and a wine should drink reasonably well on the younger side but age equally well over the mid-term. Outstanding." - - 93 points, Burghound (Drink 2024+)
