Run by seventh generation family member (Romain Taupenot), Taupenot-Merme is a historic Burgundy domain producing uncertified organic wines (since 2002) that show a true expression of terroir; elegance and vibrancy alongside richness and concentration. Made from two parcels of village Chambolle, both high up in the hills, the 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Taupenot-Merme shows medium red in colour with a lifted nose of raspberry, red cherries and spice notes. The palate is soft and supple with wild strawberry, red cherry and cocoa notes. Silky smooth on the finish with a fine line of acidity and well-balanced tannins. Chambolle-Musigny Taupenot-Merme 2015 is a joy to drink now, though has many years to evolve.
“The 2015 Chambolle Musigny offers up a pretty bouquet of cherry, strawberry and orange rind, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample palate with rich tannins and notable grip on the finish. This was quite reserved when I tasted it, so my score may prove conservative.” – 88 Pts, William Kelley, RobertParker.com (Tasted 2018)
“A somber if pretty nose features mostly a variety of red berries and soft floral nuances. There is a lovely sense of refinement to the pure and lacy middle weight flavors that possess solid richness and a certain sleek muscularity, all wrapped in a lingering finish that also displays a subtle hint of warmth. This should drink well young if desired.” – 87-90 Pts Allen Meadows, Burghound.com (Tasted 2017)
