Pigato is Liguria’s calling card. A white grape genetically identical to Vermentino, but stylistically distinct: more sapidly saline with hints of scrubland herbs. It’s an open secret in Liguria that tiny Bruna make the best Pigato. Francesca and Roberto’s vineyards are in the Arroscia valley, dotted around the town of Ranzo and the Garaxin hill. Pigato Majé is the lightest and freshest from a selection of their tiny plots around the clay soils of the Garaxin hill, 250 metres above sea level, and with that floral perfume of proper Pigato.
