Valerio Mondo picks this Barbera from his father’s oldest vineyard, on the highest south-east facing side of a hill in his home town of San Marzano di Oliveto, where his father began making wine in the 1950s. Roughly 8 months in barrel and 6 months in bottle before release. This is complete and utter dynamite, the best Barbera we’ve drunk. Deep in colour, floral, then round and full-bodied with black cherries and plums to the fore.
